Launched in 2023, the international Quartiers de demain consultation has initiated a nationwide reflection on the transformation of ten priority neighbourhoods in France. Led by the State, the initiative examines the role of architecture in improving living conditions and in shaping a new way of building within these urban priority areas. The exhibition at the Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine brings together the thirty proposals developed through the consultation. Drawings, models, films and immersive installations offer a detailed exploration of the transformations envisioned for ten emblematic neighbourhoods — from new landscape connections in Marseille to the rehabilitation of the Tarterêts boiler house in Corbeil-Essonnes.
The Tarterêts boiler-house rehabilitation project, presented by the consortium led by dd.a, is among the proposals on display. It focuses on transforming a boiler house listed as a Historic Monument and on developing its narrative for the public; its presence in the exhibition illustrates one of the approaches taken within the consultation. The event at the Cité is accompanied by a programme of talks, workshops and round tables, providing an opportunity to present the methods and proposals developed by the selected teams.
