As part of the DSA Architecture and Heritage — “Monuments in vivo” workshop, in partnership with the Centre des Monuments Nationaux, David Devaux delivered a lecture titled “Adaptations” on 19 February 2025 at the École Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris-Belleville. Through this lecture, he presented the agency’s projects, notably the Téléphérique du Salève, the Barbacane of the Château Comtal in Carcassonne, Eileen Grey’s Villa E-1027, and the transformation of the Haras d’Annecy.
The concept of “Adaptations” (from the Latin aptare: to make fit, bring together, connect…) encompasses both modification and the adjustment of self and environment. According to Le Petit Robert, to adapt is “to bring oneself into harmony with circumstances and surroundings.”
