Ensa Paris-Val de Seine — Adaptations: Stories of Architecture

David Devaux gave a lecture on the theme “Adaptations” on 19 September 2025 at the École Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris Val-de-Seine.

Through the presentation of projects including the Salève Cable Car (Silver T-Square Award 2024), a bridge over the Saône in Lyon with OMA, and the transformation of the Haras in Annecy for the creation of the International Animation Film City, David Devaux explored the design process in which the history of a place, a building, and its territory is not seen as a constraint but as the true driving force of the project. The lecture focused on learning to reveal this history—sometimes hidden, sometimes evident—and using it to guide the adaptation of inherited buildings and sites, illustrating how this approach can become a method in architectural practice.
