AMC n°282 — Maison M : Volets papillons en tasseaux de bois

In a sought-after district of Meudon, the subdivision of an old villa made it possible to construct five dwellings despite strict urban planning regulations. These rules required alignment with the street frontage while preserving an enclosed front garden, as well as a general stepping-back of volumes. The architects took advantage of this constraint to enhance the impact of a simple, cubic form. The garden faces due south. Although its depth is relatively modest, it provides a peaceful haven to which all the main rooms open. Full-width, tall windows immerse the residents in the verdant surroundings. They are protected from excessive sunlight by large shutters that retract horizontally at the top of the frames.
